The Death Network After Hours

October 20 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$5

The Death Network After Hours is the first event I’m honored to cohost as a new member of The Death Network. Come by the Belching Beaver’s Vista, CA location on Tuesday, October 20th, from 6-8 PM for open conversations about death, dying, and grief. Ask questions, share experience, and explore end-of-life and memorial options that reflect your values.

What is The Death Network?

The Death Network was founded in 2024 by Death Doulas Penny Waugh, Selena Jong, Kara Hallett, and Tara Novak. The solid foundation created by these four attracted other death care providers from planning through to memorialization.

Soon, other doulas and death care professionals joined. Now, it is a robust collective of death care professionals dedicated to providing every client with an end-of-life experience that reflects their values. We are blessed to have this community where we are free to practice our work, knowing we have trusted resources to call upon when needed.

Why I Joined The Death Network

My BSc project at the University of Western Australia focused on the differences among conventional cooperatives, collectives, and New Generation Cooperatives. I waited to join to see how robust this collective was and whether it was structured under a sustainable model. I am confident that the members’ quality reflects their passion and commitment to the collective.

My work in death care began in 2018 with a one-day Time to Die Symposium titled “Transitioning From Hospice to Death.” I continued my education and training with the International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA), along with further education opportunities in palliative care.
